A Warm Welcome to Children’s Therapy Solutions

Children’s Therapy Solutions work with children and young people (aged 0-25) and their families.

We help by making it easier for children to experience, explore and develop in their everyday living - playing with friends, accessing learning, adapting the environment by recommending specialist equipment and getting out and about in the community.

As a team we practise a holistic approach, valuing input from home, school, clubs, and other agencies to give us a full picture of how children and young people live, engage and interact.

Our aim is to enable every child to be as physically, emotionally and socially independent as possible to function in everyday living to their maximum capacity either at home, clubs, school, college or university.

A wide variety of valued clients, that include mainstream, specialist and independent schools, local authorities, NHS trusts, charities, case managers, solicitors, healthcare providers and individual families.

What does Occupational Therapy mean for children and young people?

Occupational Therapy is a way of supporting children and young people to help them get the most from their lives by finding solutions to minimise their difficulties and achieve their potential - whatever issues they may be facing.

It can be used effectively when a condition is first diagnosed or it can help build skills and improve confidence when circumstances change.

A child or young person will need Occupational Therapy to help them develop their skills to complete personal, domestic and learning activities, whether in hospital, home, school, clinic and or the community.

Occupational Therapy is usually activity-based through play, group or individual sessions which are integrated into the child’s everyday environment.

Occupational Therapists can also assess specialised equipment and recommend technology and adaptations to the child's home, school or community in order to enhance independence.

"I WORK AS A TEACHING ASSISTANT IN A PRIMARY SCHOOL SUPPORTING A 6 YEAR OLD BOY WHO HAS COMPLEX NEEDS. I HAVE BEEN FORTUNATE ENOUGH TO HAVE HAD SUPPORT FROM AN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST FROM CTS FOR THE PAST 9 MONTHS. THE CTS OT IS EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGEABLE AND PROFESSIONAL WITH A WARM, FRIENDLY APPROACH. HER CREATIVE AND ENTHUSIASTIC WAY OF WORKING HAS ENGAGED BOTH THE CHILD AND ME; WE HAVE BOTH GROWN IN CONFIDENCE IN USING A VARIETY OF HELPFUL STRATEGIES AND TECHNIQUES WHICH SHE HAS SUGGESTED. CTS OT’S MANNER AND STYLE OF SUPPORT HAVE CHANGED A SLIGHTLY OVERWHELMED TA AND A STRUGGLING CHILD INTO A HAPPIER, RELAXED AND MORE CONFIDENT DUO WHO ENJOY FINDING NEW WAYS TO LEARN AND ACHIEVE. CTS OT IS AN INSPIRATION; SHE NEVER SEES A PROBLEM, ONLY AN OPPORTUNITY. THANK YOU"
