Viki - Advanced Paediatric Occupational Therapist
I am new to the CTS team and can’t wait to begin to support families and provide support through the lens of Occupational Therapy. I have 5 years Occupational Therapy experience in several settings and am a sensory integration practitioner.
I have always been passionate about working with children to enable them to achieve their goals and participate in all areas of their life, working in a variety of settings such as summer camps, tutoring services, and schools. This is where I met my first ever Occupational Therapist. I was amazed by the impact their work had on the young person I worked with and was inspired to start my own Occupational Therapy training.
My first Occupational Therapy job was working in a mental health rehabilitation unit for working-aged men. I saw a real need for sensory integration within this area and saw how implementing sensory practices can support in varying settings and conditions. It was here that I was able to complete my sensory integration training qualifying as a sensory integration practitioner.
I then moved to a community paediatric therapy team, where I was able to combine my passions of sensory integration and working with children. I loved supporting parents and children to provide answers to their unanswered questions. Working with them to provide strategies and activities to regulate throughout the day.
I love that Occupational Therapy supports us to understand ourselves, identify our own strengths and work towards meaningful goals!
